Kyra Minturn
Kyra Minturn Sedgwick (born August 19, 1965) is an American actor, producer and director. She is best known for her role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in the TNT crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick was awarded an award in 2007 for her portrayal of Johnson. Golden Globe Award in 2007 for her performance as Johnson and an Emmy Award 2010 for her performance. After the end of the seventh season the show was canceled on August 13, 2012. Sedgwick's role as Madeline Wuntch in the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also noteworthy. Sedgwick was nominated to an Golden Globe award in 1995 for her performance on Something to Talk About. Sedgwick's other roles include Oliver Stone's Born to the Fourth of July (1989) and Cameron Crowe's singles (1992) as well as Heart and Souls(93), Phenomenon (1996), What's Cooking (2000) and Secondhand Lions (2003). The Game Plan (2007) and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick was one of the New York City native, the daughter Patricia Rosenwald (nee Rosenwald) who was an educator and family therapist as well as Henry Dwight Sedgwick VI as an investor in venture capital. Her mother, who was Jewish was of English and Episcopalian descent. Sedgwick has identified herself as Jewish and has stated that she participates in Passover seders.
